[March 30 2010] Kansas City Road Tour
[March 20 2010] The 2010 Census questionnaires are being sent out this week. Teaming up with the Census Bureau, KCCAA and Census want to emphasize the importance of completing the questionnaire and sending it back.
The U.S. Census participated in a weekly radio talk show on March 20th called “Guess Who’s Coming to KC” hosted by Mr. MC Richardson at KKFI 90.1FM Radio. The Census Deputy Regional Director Sydnee Chattin-Reynolds invited KCCAA, the only official partner representing Chinese community in the Great Kansas City to attend this special radio event. This week’s program emphasized the Census and it’s importance to the minority community. Since March is Women’s History Month, KCCAA’s former president Tammy Wang along with other Women Representatives from the African American, Hispanic, American Indian, and Asian/Pacific Islander Communities were asked to be on the program.
Tammy spoke about the importance of the Census to our Chinese community and what KCCAA has done to promote this historical event that happens every 10 years. Tammy said “Before and after KCCAA became the official partner for Census in November 2009, we have been working with Census representatives on Census marketing campaigns, event promotions, its importance and awareness.” She urged every member in our Chinese community to get educated and well-informed about this year’s Census. More information about Census written in Chinese is available below.

[Feb. 2010] *** U.S. CENSUS BUREAU MEDIA ADVISORY***
2010 Census Is Hiring Approximately 9,000 in Missouri
As National Census day fast approaches, the U.S. Census Bureau is stepping up its efforts to recruit local residents as official census takers to work on the 2010 Census.
“It’s important for the residents of Missouri to know that we are indeed testing people for jobs, and that we are also hiring people. We are in a very active mode of both recruiting, and hiring, and we’re busy doing both on an ongoing basis until July,” said Dennis Johnson, Regional Director of the U.S. Census Bureau. “We are already hiring people – we do have work for people and we will need more workers.”
The 2010 Census is a huge undertaking that provides temporary employment opportunities for the residents of Missouri interested in working at the census. Census jobs offer good pay, flexible hours, and paid training while performing an important public service. Best of all, those hired may get to work in their own communities. All census takers must be able to speak English, but there is a need for bilingual speakers also.
The U.S. Census Bureau is in the process of hiring approximately 9,000 temporary workers in the State of Missouri from now until July 2010. This is a great opportunity for retirees, students and anyone who is between jobs or is looking for part-time employment. Interested applicants must be U.S Citizens, 18 years or older, have a valid Social Security number, and be available to work 20-40 hours per week. Applicants must take a general competency test and undergo a background check. Interested persons should call 1-866-861-2010 to find out how and where to apply for a job with the 2010 Census.
